When I started this deck I had just gone through a really disappointing moment in life. It was a very beautiful and inspiring and heartbreaking moment where I took a leap of faith too soon an it didn't go as planned. But what I realize now, three or four years later, is that what I believed about life and how I lived it needed to fundamentally change before I could venture into the new chapter I wanted. If I had received what I wanted, it wouldn't mean as much to me as it does now, and who knows if things would have actually made my life any better. It's through that pain and disappointment and naivety that I was able to start an unexpected journey. But the journey wasn't off in some foreign land, it was inside (at that time just as foreign). Thank you for requesting these two cards, it was very helpful to reflect upon these two together because they very much reflect the beginning of my tarot journey. Over the last few years I have had a few long-term projects developing and they are all starting to converge towards an ending, I finally feel like it's time to start sharing with you my tarot deck.
The first I'll share is the Strength card. I typically read for myself, but about a year ago I had a reading done by some woman in Hollywood, recommended by a friend. She knew somehow that I was making a tarot deck and told me that I needed to make the strength card much lighter. 'It's not a dark card, there's nothing harsh or dark about true strength' she said. And it helped me develop a final piece for the deck.

Today I feel like six years old,
brushing through the broom.
How can a place I've been just once
Feel like I've come back home?
Rambling through the sunny hill,
Blonde and yellow speckled.
A day below the brazen sun
Has left me brown and freckled.
Far above a city of white
once blanketed in black.
Maybe in a life before,
I knew that I'd come back.
