When it comes to safety, we don't play around. 🦺👷🏼♂️
Our work crews are in and around roadways every day, trimming trees, repairing stormwater systems, fixing traffic signals, resurfacing roads, and the list goes on.
👉🏼 Remember that conditions change quickly. Slow down and stay alert when driving through work zones. Do your part to keep us all safe on the job!
Florida hosts 90% of U.S. sea turtle nesting, and our beaches play a big role. But only about 1 in 1,000 hatchlings make it to adulthood. 🐢🥚
Zach Westfall, one of our trusty coastal scientists, is back with tips to help sea turtles during nesting season in Pinellas County (May 1–Oct. 31).
Here’s how you can help this season:
🗑️ Leave only footprints: pack up beach gear and pick up all trash
🏖️ Knock down sandcastles and fill in holes
🌚 Lights out: keep beaches dark at night. Artificial lights disorient sea turtles, leaving them stranded and vulnerable.
🐢 Give turtles space: never disturb nests or hatchlings

We gave away 550 trees to Pinellas County residents during our big Arbor Day tree giveaway last weekend! 🌳🍃
Just one Live Oak will prevent more than 1,000 gallons of rain from entering our stormwater system in the 10 years after planting.
💦 All 550 trees will absorb enough stormwater to fill 450,000 bathtubs and remove tons of air pollution over the next two decades. 👉🏼 Trees reduce the burden on our stormwater system, replenish groundwater reserves, and prevent trash and pollutants from being swept into our waterways.
At Pinellas County, we’re investing in the future.
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now”, Chinese proverb.
Pinellas Homeowners: Work is getting started on the first approved applicants to the County’s People First Home Rehabilitation Program, but it’s not too late to apply for help!
👉🏼 If you earn up to the area’s median income - $87,600 for an individual or $125,150 for a family of four – and you can’t afford to complete repairs to your primary home to bring it up to current code, this program is for you.
The program can help with small- or large-scale repairs, from fixing lingering water damage to building a new home. 🏡
There’s also help for local landlords to rebuild damaged units with no income cap for the property owner (conditions apply). Available in unincorporated Pinellas and all cities except for St. Petersburg, which got its own funding allocation.
You can apply online or in-person today. Case managers will also be stopping by upcoming hurricane expos to answer questions and provide more info.
