After draping the block, and digitizing it into my computer, I then created the 2D pattern in Gerber Accumark (now
@lectraofficial ) software. (Not displayed)
Once the pattern has been completed from the block I draped (shown in last reel), I then import the pattern into this 3D software called
@browzwear where I am able to virtually mock up prototypes and further continue to compare the proportions and fit integrity of my base size 2X against my approved base size medium.
My internal and original development process that I created allows me to more sustainably develop product in that I am able to cut and sew several samples without wasting physical resources, therefore , creating less waste for the environment.
For example, for the Base Size Medium, I created NINE virtual prototypes before I physically cut a single sample because I tweaked it that many times before I felt comfortable with the fit enough to go ahead and cut it (where I then edited it one more time before final approval)
When I first started in the industry in 2012, virtual pattern making and fitting was newer to the industry and to be honest it really hasn't come that far, however, back then I was not as knowledgeable about it as I am now and I would have had to physically cut and sew each of the nine prototype samples which would have taken soo much more time and soo many more resources.
That is just one of the ways that I incorporate my experience and training into this product to really push the fashion industry forward as an independent brand.
I work to incorporate as much change and progress into my product as I can which I invest a lot of my very own money, time, and energy into so I hope you guys can see this and help me to hold other brands more accountable as well.
I create everything domestically - nothing in China or import, no outsourced vendors/factories - all things are touched and created by me and my team.
Once I approve the fit of the drape and the pattern, that is when I plot the final pattern and my team picks it up from there -
@wanda.calderon88 cuts and
@lalo_ariz sews a perfected, 'store ready' sample.
