I was invited yesterday to talk about Feminist Painting at Département d’Etudes turques de University of Strasbourg et le Droit, religion, entreprise et société.We had a very lively debate following the conference.
throughout history and into the present day, female artists have faced significant challenges, from systemic inequalities to societal restrictions. If the artist is a woman, 1000 years of guilt and self doubt have been added to the difficulty of artist’s work. And I am passionate and determined to keep talking about that.

It was a beautiful evening with art and wine and colors and friendship and lots of laughter. Thank you all for being here with me, listening to me going on and on about art and women in art and for all the fun moments and beautiful memories. I will keep on art-ing you with passion 👩🎨

Pınar’s practice is rooted in intuition and instinct, shaped by a deep affinity for abstract expression with subtle figurative traces. Through a dynamic interplay of color, gesture, and layered marks, she constructs visual narratives that exist between reality and imagination.
Born in Istanbul, she lives and works between Paris and Bern. Her nomadic way of life—moving across cities, cultures, and geographies—forms a central thread in her work.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Paris, Zurich, Bern, Barcelone, Milan, Madrid, and Istanbul.
Drawing inspiration from people, languages, and landscapes, she translates lived experiences into a personal abstract language. Her process often involves experimenting with unconventional materials, resulting in richly textured, multilayered surfaces where time, nature, and memory become visible.

“2 Moves”
I had started that work at the “art nest” before having to move. For some reason I left it uncompleted for quite some time. This happens sometimes. Recently a young art enthusiast asked me what to do when one feels stuck with one painting and I had told them to give the artwork the space that it needs, the time, respect the rhythm, let it wait a little and eventually it will come back into your “dialogue”. So that one waited for a long time to come back into our dialogue. It took 2 moves to finish it
Just a stranger, leaning against the wall, cigarette between his fingers, lost somewhere between the smoke and his own thoughts. I was just a passer by. He didn’t know I was watching. I kept walking — but some moments ask to be painted. They insist.
