I told a friend I was going to do a tech check and run-through today for the keynote I’m doing tomorrow and she said, “Huh! You’re such a natural public speaker, I can’t imagine you even need to practice.” The truth is, I DON’T practice my talks … much. But being clear on the logistics, physical setting, and tech variables reduces the only real sources of angst I have around public speaking. Spicy red lentil leftovers … thinned to a hearty soup with chicken stock and topped with fresh watercress. I made so much of the lentil stuff for Cookbook Club that I’m gonna be eating it for days. I predict I will never eat at the same way twice.
Weeds make the best dinner sides. It took me five minutes to gather this bounty — just happily clipping away in the fading sunlight. A quick soak and rinse, a light blanching, a little olive oil, butter, salt and lemon and I’ll be eating like a queen this evening. Thank you dear Earth for putting up with us as long as you have and for giving us so much so easily. May we all learn to properly value your beautiful gifts and honor your life-sustaining systems.
