Just got back from the Penn Relays and working with a great team of photographers and filmmakers. It reminded me how much I enjoy shooting and want to make a concerted effort to do it more often. Here's some candid BTS from a shoot in LA of our OAC sprint team. First real shoot with the Rolleiflex 3.5E. It's everything they say it is!
Thanks to @b.c.calico@without_us and @abeille15 for being supportive of this.
Polaroid Composition The Everyday #12
My wife says, "Why do you shoot bushes?"
That sounds a little unseemly. With limited time, shooting what is just outside my door allows me to work out ideas. These are studies. Looking forward to shooting some more urban landscapes and nature beyond my back door during this holiday break
First real handheld exposure and color tests run through Davinci. Some using film stock LUT and a few from scratch. Lots to get sorted and learn for consistency. This was done in the run n gun KOMODOBLAD setup. Waist level viewfinder only paired with the Sirui Nighwalker lenses. My focus was Volume/ Space.
Finally thinking about shooting again. Fall in Oregon is so good. But looking at the archive I found this Polaroid I took in memory of our sweet Westie, Maggie.
This has been a very long time coming. Never wanted to be a DP necessarily, just self reliant. A side and B side of my Komodo OG. I learned a lot on this build and stoked on how it turned out. This is the full cinematic doc setup. I also have a shoulder rig with FIZ controller. It's a budget build that took a lot of trial and error to get the ergonomics right for me. (I dressed that coiled trigger cable after this. Ha)
Composition #7. Polaroid summer 2025. All of these Polaroids are cinematic studies. I like the convenience and analog nature of Polaroid film. Up until now I've been focused on light/composition. Now I'm beginning to envision where talent would enter and exit the frame. I'll be continuing to do these but they will evolve to include more formal digital motion studies and scenes.
