🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 Kina Abinodjishik Apiitendagiziok Every Child Matters September 30 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Spent the day with my parents. Our family exists today because they survived. We remember kina abinodjiishik every day. 🧡 It has been a heavy few days. A little about our Truth.. Abinodjishik from home were taken to three different schools: Amos St-Marc Figuery, Kenora and Spanish. Pictured here is one group that was forcibly removed from their families to be abused, punished, tortured at these so called schools. They were given a towel and assigned a number. Truth is they were concentration camps. I mourn their stolen time. I mourn what could have been. I mourn the language they weren’t allowed to speak. I mourn their connection to culture & family. Listening to Survivor’s stories is traumatic. But listen anyway so that it never happens again.. The residential school and boarding school systems were an act of genocide that targeted Indigenous children. We remember every child and every generation affected by these ugly systems including the 60s scoop and child welfare. Praying for our People. May we continue to heal from these systems because our existence is our resistance. Learn the truth Understand the truth Talk about the truth of what residential schools were as well as what continues to happen
