Happy International Dance Day. (day late) This was a promotional photograph I made for my first duet- Boy, Boy, Giant Baby - in 1985. together with the amazing Paula Court who photographed my work so uniquely (along with that of thousands of others artists!!!) And that is tiny Nancy Coenen, my great friend and dance partner in my work for 12 years after that. (Thanks to my other great friend Brian MacDevitt for sending this to me.) memories 🎶
I happened upon these photos today from a tour we did in Chicago at an Ethiopian restaurant, about seven years ago. One of many, many, many examples of spending time with all these amazing people who’ve graced my work with their presence. Love them all. Natalie Green, Eleanor Hullihan, Silas Riener and Opal Ingle.
Carol Mullins lit my first dance at Danspace, "Boy, Boy, Giant, Baby", in 1985 and I have known her since then. I‘ve witnessed her excellent lighting work on so, so , so many dances, transforming the church into a myriad of imaginative terrains. Always warm, always interested, always problem-solving, always supportive. She was a central figure for all these years at Danspace and in the dance communiy. Her spirit will linger forever there. So sorry to lose her and so grateful for her contributions! Rest well Carol.
