From my sister, Annie (
@boxedannie ): âToday marks 10 years since we lost Dad. In this photo with his siblings and parents taken in the 1940's, he is the one in the Navy uniform.
Top Row: Agnes Murphy, Bob Mueller, John Mueller, Carl MĂŒller; Bottom Row: Rosemarie Cruger-Parent, Charles Mueller, Bertha Mueller, Mary Helen Walsh.
He was captivated by learning, poetry, travel, languages, and politics. His life touched upon multiple wars, continents, and cultures. He valued peacemaking, humor, imagination, creativity, religion, family, and always being mindful of the less fortunate. He fell in love with Vietnam (where he met my Mom), the Vietnamese people and the delicious Vietnamese food my Mom would cook. He was a devout Catholic with very traditional values that carried over into his work life and politics and would have wanted to have been known as a true conservative.
He was a son, brother, student, volunteer, Navy Lieutenant Commander, war survivor, world traveler, caregiver, uncle, professor, writer, friend, Congressional staffer, Foreign Service Officer, diplomat, advisor, husband, Knight of Columbus, church usher, and most importantly to me and my brotherâDaddy.
We miss not only him but the rest of his wonderful siblings who were also greatly influential on our lives. The Muellers were truly an amazing family and we are lucky to have had them in our lives and hope to continue to carry on their individual legacies.â
