A collaboration with our Jewellery class from KunstModeDesign Herbststraße. Each student drew inspiration from ancient coins and medals to create their own Jewellery piece.
My piece is exhibited at the Münzkabinett, as well as in the catalogue „coins“ 11/ 2025

STUCK IN BETWEEN
Linz ist als Stahl-/Industrie und Betonstadt bekannt.
Jeden Abend ist die direkte Auswirkung der Luft und Lichtverschmutzung durch
die umliegende Industrie zu beobachten; einmal am Abend färbt sich der
Himmel rosa/ orange, wenn in der Voest der Hochofenabstich beginnt und die,
unter den Bewohner: innen bekannte „Voest Wolke“ steigt auf.
Die Voest Wolke begleitet einen, so wie man vom Klimawandel und von den
betonierten Böden der Stadt begleitet wird.
Zwei Ringschrauben aus Stahl, verbinden den Boden und den Himmel mit der
Trägerin, die eingeschlossen durch die zwei Objekte diese Lasten
ausbalancieren muss, die die fortschreitende Klimakrise und das Leben in der
Stadt mit sich bringen.
Die Wolke und der Beton fungieren als Ringe am Finger, die man nie ablegen
kann, sie sind schwer zu balancieren, immer sichtbar und treue Begleiter mit
bitterem Beigeschmack.

PLAYGROUND is part of my diploma series „hide & seek” — an exploration of the artistic practice of collecting and gathering objects of immaterial value. The series comprises five rings, each constructed from collected objects: found, gifted, or thrifted.
Playground brings together toys discovered at a flea market, pearls inherited from my grandmother and a steel eye bolt from the hardware shop.

VIENNA:
I love meeting jewelry students and seeing their work.
At @herbststrasse in Vienna, I got to see rings with toy gorillas, a body piece inspired by bondage and a necklace written in the Bosnian language.
These were enthusiastic, talented students, and it was a treat to teach my workshop “Craft your Artist Statement.” (Students from @ortweinschule_kunstdesign in nearby Graz came too.)
But the real fun came after, when I saw their work.
The school has roots going back 150 years. The students are committed to their craft — most have jobs during the day and attend class from 6-10pm each weeknight for three years.

„Alles vergeht, Kabelbinder besteht“
Wenn ein Kabelbinder einrastet, klickt er zufrieden. Er zurrt seine Arme zu und hält alles fest. Das Meerglas liegt sicher in seiner Umarmung und hat den Strand schon längst vergessen. Aus seiner Zeit vom Flohmarkt weiß der Kabelbinder nichts mehr, er hat jetzt wichtigeres zu tun.
