MEET OUR ADJUDICATORS! 👏
✨ Anuradha Grover-Tejpal and Phyllis Cameron Ung ✨
We could not be thrilled to have both Anuradha and Phyllis adjudicating TYK’s inaugural Pan-Asian Theatre Festival — two people who have been with TYK from the very start!
Anuradha Grover-Tejpal is a multi-faceted and multilingual artist who wears multiple hats as a writer, actor, director (and a poet). Her artistic ethos centers on the timelessness of simplicity and relevant content, resulting in a diverse body of work that encompasses plays, events and films, tailored for multiple community organizations and theatrical production houses. Anuradha’s storytelling, marked by its unique wit, has garnered accolades from GTA’s thriving theatre community. Anuradha has been writing poetry & stories for 15 years as well as supporting young poets on their journey. Her commitment to community engagement is evident through her facilitation of poetry, story, and expression events in Brampton.
Phyllis Cameron Ung is an actor, writer, poet, and director based in Toronto, Canada. Her on-screen credits include Mayday (Air Crash Investigation), the award-winning animated short Monkey On My Back, and Drake’s “Falling Back” music video directed by Director X. She has also appeared in various short films and national campaigns for Canadian Tire, Mark’s, Macy’s, Toronto Raptors, and more. Phyllis is drawn to nuanced stories that highlight diverse and complex characters. Recently, she wrote and directed a queer, comedic piece for Guild Festival Theatre (Scarborough’s only professional theatre company), as part of their 2025 performance cohort. Currently, she is co-directing a Canadian home makeover pilot, led by an all-female cast.
Come see these lovely adjudicators and the monologue slam participants May 23rd at Sweet Action Theatre! Tickets in bio! 🎭

✨Peaceful Kyoto✨
Kyoto has thousands of years of rich history, culture, and traditions.
Millions of visitors every year.
It’s easy to feel small and insignificant.
Stranded and lost in a “foreign” place, “foreign” language.
Easy is boring.
Hard is an invitation for a challenge.
One of the things I prayed for was love, not war. I prayed for a peaceful world. 🇵🇸🇺🇦
I felt tranquil, quiet, and calm.
I felt love.
I felt blessed.
That everything was going to be okay.
That everything was going to fall into place.
That is what I choose to believe in.
Kyoto is now on my list of “Favourite Cities Of All Time”.
Thank you, Kyoto! See you again! 🇯🇵
