Wednesday night, the âBig Headâ sculpture in Roxbury, was illuminated and poetry, light, and history met in real time.
To have been asked to give Eternal Presence (the Big Head sculpture) a voice was not just an honor - it was truly humbling and an assignment I didnât take lightly. To have my words included in a projection alongside so many powerful and legendary artists was a privilege that Iâm still sitting with.
Deep gratitude to Jeff and Illuminus (@illuminus ) for the vision and then for trusting me with the assignment. Much love and many thank yous to the Museum of the National Center of African American Artists, and everyone who continues to protect and activate this space.
These moments remind me that art isnât just expression â itâs memory, lineage, and presence.
To be seen is sacred.
To be shown is art.
