thank you @voguesingapore for the incredible honour of naming me this year’s vogue talent prize winner! - taking part in this has been a challenge that has stretched me so much as a designer, teaching me to step out of my comfort zone in a multitude of ways. as someone who usually shies away from competing, participating in something like this is something that i would have never expected myself to try out for, let alone win. thank you for giving me the opportunity to express myself through this work, using design as a medium to channel my own voice and creativity is a something i will never take for granted :”) - as some might know, i struggled through a very dark time a few years back and being here, alive and working hard on my passion, is something beyond the wildest dreams of 2020 me…thank you all for being here with me as i keep exploring and learning more about what i love. i hope that my works can bring a smile to your faces in some way and that maybe i can act as a little reminder that as long as you stick to a voice that is as per you, the impossible can be possible :)

CHAOS FILES, COMPOSED FOLDERS - a compilation of patterns and silly compositions i made by dragging computer file icons across my macbook desktop! i have fallen victim to the too many files syndrome and i honestly have zero organisation to my desktop so i wanted to see if i could challenge the default plain sorting that the computer generates by dragging and playing around with the arrangements. this led me to embrace raw playfulness and intuitive movements - computer file icons can be elements of a design other than just for organisation and accessibility! without the snapping or alignment tools we can use in design softwares, the uneven and scattered approach helped me to approach composition from a simple-minded way and allow creativity to flow and compartmentalise into humanistic yet intricate representations of my messy, maximalist personality. also i made this into a book BUT im not happy with the outcome. so i will post it when i’ve made better revisions to the book layout…please stay tuned :) - - - - #design #designer #designinspiration #designideas #designinspo #designidea #graphicdesign #graphicdesigner

THE TWIN TWIST: [2] TWIN TYPICALS - the next part of my final year project includes a photobook that reframes how we understand twins. coming from the games that addressed our unconscious stereotypes, this book positions twins in settings of what i’ve coined, “everyday twins”. things around us that we have grown familiar with like escalators, phones, they all exist as twins: structurally similar and functioning well on its own but as a pair, their full identity is revealed. this helps us understand that twins are unique individually but you get the full picture of who they are when you understand them together, expressing themselves through their passions, fashion and more - the structure of the book reveals this even further. you can read the book just fine flipping on one side! the story and text flows just fine but when you flip it alongside someone else, the full story is revealed. with a cheeky nod back to twins when you flip as a pair, this book unveils a more authentic and personal look at what twins are outside of their stereotypical perceptions. coupled with glitched images i made using audacity, this book shows twins for their truest essence as living glitches, unpredictable but punchy and diverse disruptions to identity as we know it - thank you once again to ruth, anna, rayn, rayna and paige for helping me here. finding twins was the hardest part of my project, your openness and patience truly saved my life <3 - - - - #design #designer #designinspiration #designideas #designinspo #designidea #graphicdesign #graphicdesigner

THE TWIN TWIST: [1] TWIN TRICKS - sharing the first part of my university final year project that celebrates twins and how their lived experiences disrupt stereotypical understandings towards being a twin. TWIN TRICKS basically is a collection of reimagined childhood games and memes that reveal how we currently have unconscious stereotypes placed on how twins are “supposed” to operate - familiar nostalgia-laced things like spot the difference and card matching games show how we rely on the differences and similarities twins have in order for them to “make sense” to us. paper dolls show how twins take an extra step to customise their avatars to express their own individuality. twins are seen like spectacles, sitting at polarising ends of the spectrum and through these silly games, i hope to reveal our underlying stereotypical view towards twins before moving to introduce the chaotic, unpredictable nature of twinship through other creations that i will introduce soon! - special thank you to anna, ruth, rayn, rayna and paige for agreeing to being photographed for this! truly truly saved my entire project :”) - - - - #design #designer #designinspiration #designideas #designinspo #designidea #graphicdesign #graphicdesigner
