Putting in the hard and consistent work to require and attain good behavior from your dog is soooooooo worth it. I had a blast taking Riley (almost 2) to the dog beach the other day and getting these shots while letting him drag his long line around because I have a solid recall and have put in a year of off leash work. There are few times where this level of distraction and difficulty can be tested out with such a high energy breed who is so young, so this was definitely a rare and special earned treat, but I was so proud that he proved all of the hard work I’ve put in with how well he listened even with birds, other dogs, other people and being in a completely new environment. This is his third time on a beach but the first I felt I could also snag photos and direct his behavior at the same time. What a precious dog 🩵
Y’all! I’ve been quiet on Instagram and Facebook for a while, but have had a super full year with such incredible clients! I get video and photo snippets all the time but they seldom become posts. Here’s one from this summer with my sweet Riley! If you go to get your dog riled up in a playful or loving way but you’re getting injured (jumped on, knocked over, play biting, etc.) this is definitely something I can help you with! Riley learned how to have respect for me and my body and to be gentle from puppyhood, but it’s not too late to teach an adult dog new boundaries when it comes to your body and their wiggles! 🩵 in this video Riley was nuzzling my hair and face but never even had a tooth slip, your dog can learn not to nibble on you like a litter mate, too!

4 things I continue to do with my 14 month old dog on a weekly basis to keep up good behavior:
1) Prioritize Physical Exercise (often in new locations)
2) Prioritize Obedience (with distance and distractions in new locations)
3) Off Leash Social Time (with new dogs weekly)
4) Affection, Reward, Play (intentional time frames, not all day endlessly)
