open index is a curatorial platform by phonetics, presented at Castello di Rivoli in partnership with Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino 2026. It features a selection of leading independent Italian publishers working in visual culture and art. On view from May 19 to 29, the project unfolds across a reading room and a sound installation, exploring books and editorial formats as spaces for research, relation, and experimentation.

With its first edition complete, phonetics sets the ground for what’s next. Thank you for making phonetics possible. Its first edition concludes here, with more to come.
Michele Ferrari explores the shifting boundaries between the credible and the imaginable, questioning the nature of perception and the limits of representation. His practice unfolds through a multidisciplinary language that encompasses painting, sound, writing, and mixed media, embracing expressive cross-contamination and formal experimentation. Since 2020, he has co-directed Villa Lontana Records, an independent record label based in Rome.
Will Holder is known for exploring the organization of language around artworks through printed matter, live readings, and dialogues with other artists. His work emphasizes conversation as a tool and model for shared, improvised publishing conditions, where traditional roles like author, editor, and designer are collaboratively negotiated rather than predetermined.
Grace & Raffaella is a project that emerges from a shared penchant for speculative manipulations of voice and sampled references, which converge into an all-encompassing horizon refracting words, chords, and white noise. Their debut album, Grace and Raffaella, is due to be out on Meakusma in January 2026.
