Fishing village tucked between Isla La Partida and Isla EspĂritu Santo, Baja, Mexico. While walking the shoreline in the top of the photo I picked up a few pieces of plastic, fucking humans I thought to myself. One piece of trash was unique, a full pack of Marlboro red cigarettes. It’d been sitting on the rocks for so long that the cellophane wrapper was breaking down from the harsh Mexico sun and the label was more of a burnt orange than red. Amazingly the cigarettes were bone dry.
We found a pack of cigarettes as preteens, chain smoked them all and wondered what all the fuss was about. Didn’t smoke another cigarette for probably 10 years after that day. As chance would have it, I was with the same two friends on that beach 20 years later.

I could go about the serendipity of this moment as Jed walked passed me shooting the stars, or how he sailed to Saltspring Island that weekend with no motor and built the Princess Malibu stage from an old BC ferries lifeboat or the stories of loss and grief we shared, or how a shooting star lit up of the sky as we shot photos. I can always make a short story long but instead I’m going to make a long story short.
For me this platform began as a way to share my photography but somewhere a long the way it lost its magic.
Serendipitous moments come and go but when you’re willing to notice them, they stand out as pure magic. Thanks for following along.
Peace ✌️
