“We are hiring a family friend to photograph our wedding….” Why this makes us cringe… 1) your wedding day should be the day where you (and your loved ones) sit back and enjoy the day. Let them be IN the moments, not capturing them. Sometimes it’s a fine line for a family member to enjoy the wedding, but also get the job done. So many times I’ve seen a wedding where the toasts are happening, but the family friend photographer is sitting at a table enjoying dinner. So speaking from experience, let them attend the wedding instead of work it. 2) Don’t have a friend of the family photograph a wedding just because they have a camera. There is SOOOOO much more to photographing a wedding than just gear…. Lighting, posing, professionalism, making sure the images are safe, running a wedding day, editing… and that’s just to name a few. Please just do us a favor and hire a professional👏🏻
