Stop Making Content. Start Making Art. (Here’s How) Social media algorithms are rigged against photographers. Video gets pushed, photos get buried even when your single image has more soul than a thousand AI-generated TikToks with the same robotic voice-over. But here's what they don't want you to know: Your photography isn't the problem. The platforms are. And that's why we're offering a special Portfolio Review for Photographers program.... /2026/05/17/the-brutal-truth-about-social-media-and-your-art-copy-3/?utm_source=instagram-business&utm_medium=jetpack_social

Why We Turned Down Every Major Camera Brand (And What We’re Building Instead) Here's a story you're not hearing anywhere else. We're one of the only publications working to help you make images that AI can't really create. In 2025, I started to do things that otherwise would seem crazy for a publisher of a niche photography online magazine to do. For starters, this year, the Phoblographer may actually make a printed magazine again. But in addition to that, we didn't sell any ads to the big camera manufacturers. It really showed me that if everyone even gave $1 to read FOR THE YEAR, we'd make enough money to be able to grow and sustain the site for a very, very long time. But that's really tough to ask. Eventually, I'd like to site to move away from needing and relying on banner-ads. Instead, I want the site to go fully super-affordable subscription eventually.... /2026/05/16/turn-down-camera-brand/?utm_source=instagram-business&utm_medium=jetpack_social

The World’s First Third-Party AF Zoom Lens Is Here Under $700 Third-party lenses have been favored by many photographers. With various brands popping up in China in recent years, these manufacturers have also tried to push innovation at very cost-effective rates. While third-party Chinese lenses have largely been primes, it appears that Thypoch is here to change that. The company recently announced the Voyager AF 24-50mm f2.8, the first-ever autofocus zoom lens ever produced by a third-party manufacturer for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Here's a look at what it can offer.... /2026/05/15/the-worlds-first-third-party-af-zoom-lens-is-here-under-700/?utm_source=instagram-business&utm_medium=jetpack_social

I Recreated the Golden Age of Digital Photography—Here’s How You Can Too Trust me, we miss the era when images actually looked real. We've gone too far in the other direction. When we made our presets, we made them with the intent of having photographers be able to work without the need for AI replacing what they do. Indeed, these presets are all about authenticity and replicating a look that AI can't necessarily do.... /2026/05/15/golden-age-digital-photography-presets/?utm_source=instagram-business&utm_medium=jetpack_social

The Best Film Conversion Software Film photography requires patience to practice, but it obviously doesn't end with just a click of the shutter button on your analog camera. If you're someone who doesn't just process your negatives for print, and wants to make digital copies of those photos, then you know how painstaking it can be. We've written many articles on the best ways you can scan film negatives, but here we're reviewing distinctly different film conversion software that can be used to convert those scans into positives. This isn't an article that ranks them - it just tells you the best part of each software and leaves the choice in your hands.... /2026/05/15/the-best-film-conversion-software/?utm_source=instagram-business&utm_medium=jetpack_social

How to Protect Your $10K Camera Kit for Less Than Your Coffee Budget Hey pros! Listen up! Our photography insurance program is designed to be there when photographers really need it! We're giving you more than the competition can in different ways! Here's a little-known fact: the warranty of your camera or lens doesn't necessarily cover what happens to it in case of dust, inclement weather, etc. That's why we created the Photography Care Program, in collaboration with Full Frame Insurance. Dust affects your camera and lens performance more than you think, and unless you're constantly cleaning the lens contacts, your autofocus performance could end up pretty wonky. But just in case something happens, you can ensure your camera gear is always covered.... /2026/05/14/protect-camera-gear-for-less/?utm_source=instagram-business&utm_medium=jetpack_social
