Welcome aboard, Mai! We’re excited to have Mai Miksic on the #PhillySJUnited team 💙💪 as managing director of early learning and education.
A self-described optimist, Mai says she chose to work in the nonprofit world because of the infinite possibilities to impact people’s lives. As the region enters a new school year, we’re proud to have Mai—joined by our community partners—take the lead in thinking about innovative approaches to improving early learning systems so that it serves more children and sets them on the right path to success.

Did you know #211 offers language translation via chat? Earlier this month, our partners from @pa211gethelp won the Innovation Award for Service Delivery 🏆 for implementing the chat translation tool on pa211.org—a feature #PhillySJUnited 💙💪 is proud to offer!
We believe all people, all families, and all communities should have the same access to opportunities and support, so this feature is essential. The award win was a great moment at the Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) Conference—the standard for excellence in information and referral. 👏
(Don't forget to always remind your networks about 211. From help with a utility bill to housing assistance, afterschool programs for kids, and more, help from 2️⃣1️⃣1️⃣ is a call, text, or chat away.)
Have you met Paula? We’re thrilled to welcome Paula Umaña to the #PhillySJUnited 💙💪 team as managing director of community resiliency.
Working side-by-side with partners, our community resiliency work (like #211, #PHLConnectED, and the #ViolencePreventionHotline) helps connect people to resources, relief, and basic needs.
According to Paula, “If we begin to see ourselves as one ecosystem and unite forces as a collective, we can transform systems into more equitable vehicles to respond to the needs of historically marginalized communities.”

What lessons can we learn from the collaboration tactics employed in #charlottenc?

Learning from Charlotte's example at the #PhillySJUnited #OpportUNITYSummit
"Charlotte aggressively addresses its challenges. There are hurdles and barriers, of course, but that attitude is the biggest reason why the Mayor's Equity Initiative was so successful."
Blair Stanford
ED, Charlotte Executive Leadership Council
"What we're really here to talk about is the path forward for Philadelphia. How do we transform Philly going forward? What are the big ideas that Philadelphians can look to?"
Michael Forman - Chairman and CEO, FS Investments
@cjftownsend7 - One question I've learned to ask that really applies to transformational change is, "Do you want results, or do you want to be right?" If we only talk to each other about what we agree on, we'll never move forward. So be receptive, be open, and you might be surprised at what you can accomplish.
