“We are dedicated to the principle that relationships of respect, compassion, and integrity are the building blocks of personal and global harmony. We hold that democracy is not just a political system but also a personal commitment—a continual exercise in freedom of conscience, thought, and moral responsibility expressed through humane deeds. We seek to promote personal moral development and social responsibility through direct assistance, social action, and public advocacy.” Above is an excerpt from a statement on where Ethical Culture/Ethical Humanism stands at the beginning of the 21st century. Aissia strives to unite elected officials, planning professionals and the public with a common vision of making a vibrant district even greater by building consensus on addressing the issues of poverty, public safety economic development and quality education. She currently serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff for State Senator Sharif Street. She served as chief of staff for two State Representatives in the 197th District from 2014 to 2018. Her professional career and volunteer experiences have focused on addressing unemployment, increasing economic development opportunities; supporting quality education and training; and establish community partnerships with nonprofit organizations to decrease poverty and create a trained and educated workforce.

@phillyethics at 1906 Rittenhouse is many dreams inside one building. This evening there was, simultaneously, a gorgeous concert with @giamargaret and @brendan.eder ensemble hosted by @r5productions , a 1984 reading group upstairs hosted by @phillyethics member Leigh, and the @philaindie film fest setting up in the basement getting ready for their May 5-8 festival of independent cinema.

“Action is the language” You cannot rush trust, whether it’s with animals, people or organizations. Your actions speak louder than your words. Today’s platform with @hood__naturalist was easily one of our favorites. Her framework, which focuses on closely observing nature in order to learn from it and live better lives as humans (both individually and at scale as groups and collectives), aligns closely with ours at @phillyethics The dictum of ethical culture is “diversity in the creed, unity in the deed.”

Sunday May 3rd at 11 AM The diverse ecologies and behaviors of birds and other wildlife species are not only marvels of evolution, but also serve as excellent roadmaps for how to love our neighbors and organize for justice in community. Corina Newsome will share lessons learned from her work at the intersection of conservation science and environmental justice, and how the hidden wisdom of the natural world—embedded throughout our ecosystems and millions of years in the making—shows us what collective survival has always required.
