we will ask for one hour of your hourly pay to enter, as a suggested donation to the PBMA messenger emergency fund.
there will be two ways to win, with separate podiums and prizes: come in first or come with the most knowledge of Broad Street history.
watching WHYY's A Walk Up Broad Street, on youtube or on VHS at Brian 49's house, will give you a significant leg up if you want to be one of the first to finish. it is absolutely ESSENTIAL for the second part of the race, where you will have the chance to demonstrate your knowledge of the unforgettable facts and iconic lines in the video.
who knows, maybe you'll win both.
95 insists you all have a restful and peaceful holiday.
Iâm paraphrasing of course, his actual words were (please) âenjoy the 48 hours youâve been permitted to plagiarize a relationship with your genetic detritus before youâre herded back into the factory.â
Merry Christmas,

Throwback Thursday with No Arms!
Itâs Joe PeĆa! Hide your wives.
I was just thinking about this guy recently because Brandon stopped by my bar and said heâd hung out with him at the 700. Said joe is a fireman now. I donât think he has an instagram.
I took this picture for my blog in 2012 when Joe was working for me at One Hour as rider 741. Second picture is Joeâs raggedy ass old Cannondale.
Throwback Thursday with No Arms!
Hereâs a couple product promo videos from the late great @reloadbags company. I hope itâs ok with @roland_burns that weâre posting these.
The meta data on my copy of these says 2016. Maybe then, or just a year or two before?
Video 1 features @hoagiehandz Devin. Heâs on his KHS pursuit track, doing the daily St Christopherâs Hospital run up northeast for One Hour. I was dispatching on the other end of that radio heâs wearing.
Video 2 features everyoneâs favorite electronic music producing courier, @qndfk Brandon. Riding his Nobilette around city hall, on a job for Timecycle.
Obviously, both are using Reload bags. We miss you Reload!
Throwback Thursday with No Arms!
In the early days of my dispatching career, before the advent of smart phones, my couriers would sometimes send me pics from the road. And I would post them on my tumblr! Yes, tumblr. Hereâs some pics that turned into a post on that blog, from One Hour Messengers rider 747 Matt Hannigan.
Matt was working for Timecycle when I first met him, where he went by the title Matt Eight Nine, to distinguish him from Matt Six Seven. There were a bunch of Matts back then. I believe he was even in a Rancid cover band comprised entirely of Matts, called Matt Comes the Wolves.
Here we see Matt reflected in the window of the Cast Iron Building. Heâs showing me his oversized package (haha). Then Matt goes to the Navy Yard, something we rarely do anymore.
Some people called this the prettiest bike in Philly back then. An NJS equipped sparkly red Samson keirin bike with a white Hed trispoke. Does he still have it? Maybe @matt.n.ellie_adventure_time will jump in and tell us.
