Casemore Gallery is pleased to present Quantum Foam, an exhibition of new and recent works by Dan Davis, Phillip Maisel, and Henna Vainio.
Quantum Foam includes work in a variety of media—photography, painting, collage, sculpture—that challenge our visual associations with space, how objects appear, and how close observation can change what we see. At a distance, objects may appear flat, the Euclidean limitations of our vision affecting the way we see them and how they occupy space. Up close, however, their appearance changes. A one-to-one, object to self relationship reveals how our perception, like matter in quantum foam, fluctuates in the turbulent nature of spacetime.

Tomorrow Saturday Oct. 29 we close my show with a finissage from 12pm-2pm. Come say hi/bye!
We opened the show with matzo ball soup and close with a serving of dumplings 🥟. Food is and has always been the main connection to my dual lineages, a way to communicate over temporal distances, so happy to bookend the show in this way.
Last few days of Parabolic Structures @chiquitaroom .
This work maybe took me the longest to produce. As opposed to the previous one that came about very quickly, this one took on many forms and variations. So it’s interesting to find it in the end paired with the one that came about so effortlessly.
Thanks to @pedrooootorres for your eye in seeing them together.
I was happy to include this tiny piece in the show because the diminutive size is indicative of the way I usually make the collages. Very small and very quickly. Often then they get scaled up, but this one I kept teeny!

Tomorrow Wednesday, October 5th at 7 p.m., and on the occasion of my exhibition Parabolic Structures, I will be giving an artist talk @chiquitaroom . The talk is titled “Chance Encounters and the Double Image”, and I’ll be talking about my artistic career and creative process, as well as the place of chance in it, to understand how it intertwines inspirations, influences, and serendipity.
