Here on Whitehall to protest against the rising tide of antisemitism currently hitting Jews across the UK.
Some rousing speeches and some misplaced political grandstanding from a host of speakers including, among others:
* The Chief Rabbi (makes sense)
* Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch (hate the Tories but on this occasion she spoke brilliantly)
* Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey (why? Who?!?)
* Reform’s Deputy Leader Richard Tice (🤢)!
* Boy George! (BRING IT ON!!!)
I didn’t agree with everything that was said (or the entire roster of speakers), but it’s safe to say the message is needed loud and clear that the Jewish community needs protecting!
After what happened at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe I don’t really talk much about my Judaism online, but I can pretty much sum up how it feels to be Jewish with my placard:
“I JUST WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!”
Here are some alternative slogans I considered:
“My knees and back can’t cope with many more of these marches!”
“Does anyone know a good cardiologist?”
“Sorry to say Daphne died. This seemed like a good way to spread the word since some of you probably knew her!”
