Show of Hands Wake The Union, 2012 Album cover We’ve know Show of Hands since way before the inception of Stylorouge in 1981. At that point Steve Knightley was dedicated to a rock career, treading the boards of the pub rock circuit with his band Total Strangers, and Phil Beer was partnered with songwriting guitar maestro Paul Downes on the folk club scene. 31 years later Steve and Phil, augmented by @mirandasykesbass on bass and vocals, released this, their eighth studio album. Recorded and produced by Mark Tucker, it was created as a “journey through the landscapes of England and America - two countries united by a common tongue and musical heritage”. Once again it was self-released on their own Hands On Music label and was their first album to make it into the Top 75 UK Album Chart It also marked the 20th anniversary celebration for the duo. During that time, and since then, Stylorouge have produced record covers, photography, promo videos, web design, merch and even a 90 minute documentary, Stairway To Devon which was released in 1998. Wake The Union was released to very positive reviews from critics, with some touting it as the duo’s best album.
