Wilcoxon Solo No. 66 – 116 bpm
Another day, another solo. But today it’s actually a warm-up for my show with WUCAN in Jena.
This solo isn’t very difficult, but you need to have your 7- and 15-stroke rolls together — basically your double stroke rolls. There are also some unexpected paradiddle combinations and triplet figures you have to be prepared for.

Wilcoxon Solo No. 65 – 110 bpm
This solo features a lot of 3-strokes — or, in a more modern approach, “drags.” The sudden 7-stroke rolls and paradiddle combos can be a bit tricky but aside from that, it’s a nice one to start the day.

Another step through the Wilcoxon solos. This one brings its own challenges with shifting figures and sticking combinations that require control and precision.
At first glance it might not look too demanding, but getting everything clean at tempo is a different story. As always, it’s about staying relaxed and keeping the flow consistent.

⚠️ Wilcoxon Solo No. 62 – 81 bpm (as dotted quarter note) ⚠️
Happy Easter — and as you can see: Jesus, take the wheel!
This solo includes a lot of fast 5- and 10-stroke rolls, and even though they are written as 32nd notes, they are meant to be played as 64ths. In my copy, the updated version is already included. As the tempo increases, the fast rolls start to feel more like triplets.
I found my best sounding tempo at 81 bpm, but there’s definitely some headroom.

Finally, I’m back with the 2/4 solos — but probably not for long. This one immediately demands a lot of hits. But if you’ve got your 7-stroke roll together, it’s a fun one to play.

A quick one and apparently the last 6/8 solo for a moment. The book continues in 2/4 time. After weeks of 6/8 solos, it feels like a bit of a relief 😅
Anyway, the solo has its little traps regarding accents, not to mention the double drag at the end.

Wilcoxon Solo No. 59 – 75 bpm (as dotted quarter note)
The main rudiment featured in this solo is the ratamacue in almost all forms. The tricky part is staying consistent with the triplets and not washing over them.
Also, the drags become very wide, so it sounds more like a long triplet roll with accents.
