Dance with Berthold! 🩰 3d animation made in Blender, pixel art cell shading test

Berthold in all his glory! 🩰 He’s a character that popped into my head out of nowhere one day and I immediately sketched out. I took the opportunity to try something different and experiment with cel-shaded rendering. You can see some BTS of Berthold’s true appearance and how I set up the scene in Blender. After modeling the character and creating the textures by mixing photos and digital painting, I set up a non-photorealistic pixel art style shader. It acts exclusively on the textures via RGB inputs, giving me total control over the color output. The whole process was so much fun. I’m pretty sure Berthold doesn’t dance alone... you’ll probably be seeing his friends very soon!😌😌

As always, it was a pleasure collaborating with @d.m.t_core on the graphic design for their Valentine’s Day party. Once again, using Blender and Substance Painter, I brought their vision to life by creating a painting inspired by Renaissance cherubs, enriched with tribal elements and candles (key features of this winter season’s artwork aesthetic). Alongside the original artwork, you can also see close up details of the 3D models in these new animations. Thanks again to DMT for the creative freedom and trust šŸ«¶šŸ»

Here’s a recap of my 2025 as a 3D artist. It’s been an intense year, full of personal growth and changes in the creative world. I’ve explored fantasy and horror through various media, and I hope these studies will manifest through my big goal for 2026, to release my first animated short film. Time has been the thing I’ve missed most to stay active online, but I had the opportunity to work in new inspiring environments, and I hope to do even more in the new year. Happy Halloween to you all! šŸŽƒšŸ•Æ To celebrate the macabre season, I wanted to pay tribute to the 70s–80s horror B-movies that shaped my aesthetic and whose creative spirit I’ve always admired. I created these animations in Blender, using and modifying assets from Blenderkit, and rendered them in EEVEE. The color grading and VHS effect were done in Premiere to give it that retro vibe. Serpent Sinner’s Greatsword šŸāš”ļø I created this 3D model for @d.m.t_core , starting from their logo and focusing heavily on the textures in Substance Painter. I added reptile-like scales across the surface and kept touches of red, since it plays a central role in the animated reel where the sword appears. For the guard’s decoration, I edited a photo of a bas-relief from the Orvieto Cathedral in Photoshop, then converted it into a height map using Materialize, adding a personal and historical layer to the piece. Some shots of my Bloodthirsty Greatsword āš”ļøšŸ©ø After modeling the components, I had fun experimenting with textures in Substance Painter. I aimed for a realistic look by blending silver, metal, and black iron. I’ll probably share some behind the scenes soon to show more of the creative process šŸ‘€
