Finally after 4 years we racked out our 4ton grip truck and gave it a facelift inside. But it didn’t come easy, we did it on a budget / on our own.
Thanks to Daniel Kagle we were able to find and buy Bill Buckingham‘s old aluminum drivers side grip rack “Hillbilly Industries”. Along with 1 1/2” pipe cross braces for the ladders. Then we rebuilt the rag shelving out of aluminum supports and cross braces. Lastly we built a new mombo, combo, highroller cage out of aluminum square stock and fittings. Massive upgrade for our 4ton, couldn’t be any happier👻

Sunday and a rig with Phantom Grip Co. Vol. 38
This past week we rigged up a 6foot Original Slider for a few motion control camera shots with the camera underslung. Most of the time it was attached to the Fisher 10 dolly but for one shot we had to rig it suspended in the air over a large office table with two 8foot goalposts on each end. Shots turned out great and we made our day with all the shots for production.

What an amazing project to have been apart of. Huge thanks to @blesscode and @powell_robinson for having us out on this one. We had a solid grip team on this and we absolutely crushed it. We had both the Phantom Grip Co.10 ton and 4ton completely empty after the prelight. 180’ x 30’ bluescreen, all camera crane work, 100s of lights in the sky, gaffer @natethomson1 did an amazing job with the lighting. We used the stages existing grid system… 4 1/2 grid 12x20 pillows up in the sky, just absolutely crazy on the G&E side. Lastly we played 12x20 book light on the ground with a mobile scissor lift 8x8 lighting unit.

Throwback to this a quick small airplane cart rig, simple but important shot for this music video. Sometimes you don’t need to make things complicated in the world of grip, it can just be as simple as two cardellini end jaw clamps and some 5/8s rigging. Nailed it in one take.

We had a spooky good time on this one. Spending an overnight in the Mountain View Mausoleum shooting pick up shots as the LA unit for horror feature film “ Saint Clare “ starring @bellathorne and @ryanphillippe .
Mostly dolly and slider work using the Fisher 11 and 4 foot Original Slider on track throughout the night. Nothing crazy but we love working on features big or small.

What a fun multi day car commercial for Infinity. Multiple car rigs across multiple locations in LA with awesome people and beautiful views. What more could a Key Grip ask for.
As you can see from the photos all the camera shots/rigs were based around the Sony Rialto System. We were able to land all of the shots for our DP, But on the last day up in the mountains, it got a little dicey with some rain/snow that we had to fight against. Lol it felt like the Grip department had to hold back the world to get the shot with no rain on the windshield.

Multiple camera angles, with multiple cameras all in one day. Barely broke a sweat with these beautiful camera car rigs that day. We had to film multiple camera angles while the cars were drifting in the middle of a parking lot. Both cars were original picture cars from Fast And Furious Tokyo Drift. One being a right hand drive Mazda RX7 and the other was a right hand drive Nissan Silvia S15.
Both cars were extremely difficult to find hard rig points because both car bodies were 70-80% made out of fiberglass. But as usual not a problem, we got the DP all of the shots/rigs he asked for and the shots turned out amazing. Camera car rig, 5/8 rigging, 1 1/4” speed rail, mini ball-mount, regular ball mount, suction cups, hostess tray, and hood mount/ 6 foot cheese plate.
