Filmmaking project 3 from the Jackie Chan stunt camp!
After a week of kung fu, fight choreo, wing chun, wire work, reactions, speakers, lectures, swords, staffs, and filming, we had one final movie assignment.
This time, we were allowed to do something completely original. The only limitations being the locations (everyone else would be filming at the same time) and 3 hours to shoot.
While that’s not a lot if time, it’s plenty in comparison to the 1 hour shoots we did earlier in the week… so we set our ambitions high!
We did 70s style Jackie in the previous videos, so we decided to move on to trying 80s Jackie. Armor of God, Dragons Forever, Wheels on Meals.
The concept also included the multi-person fight idea so everyone in our group (Dragons4Ever!) could be onscreen for some action.
We picked some props, costumes, and locations, and then got going!
While there was a general plan, we didn’t have a set shotlist or planned choreography before shooting…
We did this on the fly! “Hong Kong style”, as the classic movies we love tended to also figure out the action shot by shot. Though they had more than 3 hours.
And yes, this one was shot and edited on an iPhone too.
We’re very proud of this one! The action, the comedy, the memories of frantically shooting while coming up with choreo seconds before we’d shoot it…
So cool that we came out of the experience with this short film in addition to the great experiences. Shoutout to to
@kungfuphilip for organizing the incredible trip!
