One of the dishes on this menu was my interpretation of my favorite after-school meal, my mom's sardines in tomato sauce 🐟️🍅 (bottom left). In part, Phaeng & Phiu exists because of this dish. My mom showed me that great food doesn't need to be fancy to be delicious. Her version, common in many Asian households, was canned sardines stir-fried with garlic, chilies, and whatever herbs she had on hand. This dish immediately transports me back, and it was such a special experience to share it with all of you
