_CIVILIAN is a story about community and how in these times, kindness can be perceived as a radical act. It’s about the fallout from these massive data-centers and how they effect our vulnerable. It’s about the true cost of blindly enforcing laws that solely benefit capital gain - while keeping a populace dependent.

As some of you already know the doors to Fly on a Walls uptown space is closing suddenly
I have been devastated but grateful as I look back on what my time there offered me
I will be finding a new home at The Anchor
With this move there is a desire to have support so I don’t have to stand in this grief alone
If you are available to load things , unload things, and or help me transport things DM ME
Action is happening Thursday midday and Sunday this week timeframes I will send to those who can help
I could very easily do this alone but I’m trying to be held in my grief so it may feel a bit softer and lighter to carry I LOVE YOU
Also Saturday I will have things at the studio that you can take for FREE or donation including designs and some craft supplies, i do not want to move with everything just what I am currently in process with

I wanted to make a reel today of all my favorite BDF moments that I could find!
I know there are more but whew these already say so much about my time at the festival!
Some things I think that is very distinct about BDF is the multi-generational reality and the non-hierarchical existence between students, teachers, and staff!
Not to mention how cozy and quiet the sweet sweet grounds of Lewiston Maine have to offer!
The ability to create fun opportunities to gather and socialize or to create and collaborate!
Ask about these things when you arrive for orientation, have an idea to engage while at dance camp we would love to hear and find a way to support your offering!
Wanna take a trip to the water or any nature walks , ask a BDF hero and they’ll point the way!
Wanna dance all day , that’s a non-brainer!
Need PT or rejuvenation after there is staff support for this, BDF cares about the whole of the artist not just about your “talent”.

I initially came as a scholarship recipient after meeting Carl Roger’s at ACDFA (or ACDA as it’s called now) he helped me to get my application in so I could come that summer , whew it was a marathon because I was procrastinating
Then @kikivandunk connected me to @koneal26 and Greg in 2015 when I came back as a YDI mentor
I moved to Atlanta after that summer thanx to the 3 I mentioned above and the rest is history
For unforeseen reasons I hadn’t been able to come back to the festival since 2016
But in 2023 I saw a call for Advisory Board members and thought I would shoot my shot
Turns out we are reunited and it feels so good!
I am so delighted to be apart of the Bates web and the long-term relationships I have established over the yrs because of Bates like @millie.heckler and i met at Bates , she performed one of the most incredible solos that lives rent free in my head. We’ve been creative partners ever since!
