“What can I say? Love it.”
In this video, @phablemusic takes a closer look at the SPL BiG [Studio] and shows why this unique processor is such a powerful tool for adding width, depth and dimension.

One of the most musical stereo enhancement tools I’ve used 🎛
The SPL BiG Studio takes the original BiG concept even further with:
• stereo width
• psychoacoustic depth
• and beautiful tube harmonics
What I especially love is using it on synth groups and stems to create more space and movement without making the mix sound artificial.

I had the chance to talk to Michael from @zaehl about the philosophy behind the new PM12. You can immediately feel that this mixer was designed from a very different perspective than most modern products.
Instead of chasing endless features, the focus is clearly on sound quality, ergonomics, and creating an instrument that feels inspiring to perform and mix on. The depth, clarity, and overall musicality of this thing are seriously impressive.
Definitely one of the standout pieces I experienced at @superbooth_berlin this year.

Whoops…
Choosing the right room is the first step when building a home studio.
I had two rooms to choose from.
One room was square.
This room is rectangular.
So according to the “basic rules” of acoustics, this one should be better.
Turns out… it might not be.
The ceiling height almost matches the room length, which can create serious modal problems.
But there was another important factor:
No neighbours.
So even if the room is technically worse acoustically, it might still be the better choice.
Next step:
Measuring the room with REW and figuring out what’s really going on.

I’m starting a new series about home studio acoustics.
The idea is simple:
Follow me while I turn this room into a properly treated studio.
The interesting part is that studio acoustics have changed a lot in the last 10–15 years. Between DSP speakers, room correction software and modern acoustic treatment, it’s now possible to get surprisingly good results even in a normal apartment.
I love home studios.
The cozy feeling, the freedom to just walk in and start making music.
In this series I’ll document the entire process.
Let me know:
What is the biggest acoustic problem in your studio right now?

New space, new chapter.
This is my new home studio — and it also marks the start of a new series about home studio acoustics.
I’ll be talking about:
• how to choose the right room
• why room dimensions matter
• measurements, treatment & monitoring
• and why acoustics are more than just software correction
I’m intentionally starting with no acoustic treatment, so you can hear and see the real progression over time.
