From the jury report of the Scriptiekunst Prize 2024 - my work 'The Green Box', developed initially as my artistic research thesis for the Master in Theater at the Toneelacademie Maastricht, has been awarded the first prize (shared with Varenka Theunynck's thesis "Achtergronden"). "Language wants to be material, text and form match and reinforce each other and the object with its multiplicity –and with its rigorous and coherent stylistic choices- continues to surprise. Pablo found endless clever ways to play with text and form, while reflecting in relevant ways on artistic research processes. Language is material in this work, not a diffuse medium that takes us away from reality. This language object deserves a large audience, an audience that far exceeds a thesis or education. One of the few things I am not doing myself is driving the car, so that leaves my hands free to post something here. Tonight I'm performing 'The Visit'' at Zaal 3 in Den Haag. This is where I was. De Hoopening 2024 - lots of work, lots of fun. It was nice to open my atelier and to squat some other spaces in order to share glimpses of 'The Green Box' 📗, 🔵🔴'Remarks in Colour' 🔴🔵, 'Het uur van Rabia' (with @anoukedegroot21 ), and to do some first experiments for the development of 'The Great Bigs' (work in progress...) It was an exciting couple of days, with lots of people visiting @maakdehoop !
