So, what happened? After an a long drive back to the pits it was time to pull some codes and figure out what’s going on. After pulling everything apart (again), I found that one of the coil packs started to back off. Likely from me not fully snapping it down a few days prior. I swapped 4 and 5 just in case to see if the codes followed, but all was good and we were quickly back out there ripping on track thanks to help from my good friends @paul2161 and @performance_eurowerks helping me diagnose it
It always sucks to have mechanical issues at the track, but thankfully it wasn’t something worse like a #crankhub

Part II: After knocking out the spark plugs up top, it was time to get access to the underside of the GTS for the downpipes, and leaky turbo o-ring. I am pretty OCD about keeping this car clean, so spent over an hour and many cans of brake fluid getting all of the oil spit out from every crevice, but now it looks brand new. And of course had to add the ridiculously loud GTS cold startup sequence at the end. #bmw #m4gts #bmwmotorsport #diy #amsr

PART I: Found an oil leak from the front side turbo a few weeks back. Excessive heat from tracking fried the o-ring and since the PCV vents to that turbo, oil was spitting all over the underside of the engine bay. The GTS is a pretty easy platform to work on, but you need to be organized as there are a LOT of bolts and parts to remove to gain access to the engine. Had a great start to the 2026 track season yesterday at Autobahn CC. Here's my best lap of the day with first time using Race Render for telemetry. Pretty happy to get into the 1:07s while not pushing overly hard and staying within my limits. Could have been in the 6s if not for the few mistakes I made.
The GTS continues to amaze me with how capable it is and how easy it is to drive fast. North Course is great for testing setup, and I've really enjoyed leaving this car in mostly stock form and tweaking the damper settings until I find the sweet spot. Thanks to @performance_eurowerks for getting the car dialed and helping me with setup throughout the day!

Hit a PB of 2:29.05 on my very last session (usually not recommended lol) after two days at O’Fast Road America with BMW CCA. This car has much faster lap times in it, but I was very happy after building pace and confidence throughout the weekend. I haven’t driven on a dry Road America with a working car since my E46 days, so I had to spend a lot of time re-wiring my brain for the pure speed and power of the GTS. I’m always the one to stick it out until the track closes, and I’m glad I did because I had a wide open track to dial out some heavy braking instability and explore other setup changes. I hit the sweet spot by reducing the rear low speed compression which gave me so much more grip at mid corner entry, and immediately improved my time by 1.5 seconds. With another session I’m confident I would have been in the 28s or 27s. Next year my goal will be 26s, which I think is very doable especially while chasing much faster friends out there! #m4gts #bmw #hpde #performanceeurowerks #bmwmotorsport
