Happy New Year!!!
Fireworks are scary to dogs. The unpredictable loud noises may cause the dog to run away or hide out of fear.
Please make sure to provide a safe and secured place for them during the New Year's firework celebration.
Vets +'s 5 year anniversary is coming up very soon!
We will be celebrating this milestone while also raising awareness for a new project: "TNR Cat Overpopulation awareness".
This project will be discussed in further detail at the event and we will also enjoy some music and food! Please come by Casa Keza on November 26th from 4pm!

International Homeless Animals Day.
Meet Leila and Bobby. Two of our Follow + Lead pack members. They were born a few weeks apart from two different mama dogs in the same household. Unfortunately, the owner could not keep the 2 dogs and their 10 puppies. Although we didn't have the capacity, we ended up taking them because we knew they risked being thrown out into the street. All the puppies got sick and some of them died from worms that they got from their mother due to a poor diet. Fortunately, Bobby and Leila are one of the few that survived. Not long after getting settled at the facility, Bobby's mom died from a uterus infection. Through that horrible introduction to the world, Bobby developed some trust issues. He screams if you hold him a certain way or touch him by surprise but, he has gotten much better now and seems to be a lot more confident. Leila on the other hand has a hard time trusting strangers and is scared of new people. She is very loving and sweet to the people she knows. All she needs is to warm up to you! These two have a very unique gift that they bring to the Follow + Lead pack. Bobby is sweet and small, which is why we use him for new introductions since he doesn't seem like a threat to other dogs. He is also very good at reading other dogs' energies and adapting well. If a dog has a lot of energy he is happy to play with. If he meets a nervous dog he leaves them alone and gives them space until they are ready to warm up to him. He can also be serious and stand his ground and let the other dog know when they need calm down. Leila on the other hand is a bit more selective on which dogs she gets along with but, with the ones she likes she is really fun and teaches them how to play and interact with a more gentle touch.
She mostly hangs out with Toro & her mom (Maya), check out their stories!
Please do your part in helping homeless animals, adopt, don't shop!

Happy Mother's Day - The story of Maya, Follow + Lead's (F+L) Mama dog.
Maya is a sweet, playful, energetic yet calm dog. She has been an important part of the F+L pack, and we want to share with you her story. She was first found by PETS + founder Rahim & dog trainer Ineza in 2019. She was not more than one month old and being sold on the street in Nyarutarama. She was hungry, thirsty, filthy and exhausted. Ineza managed to get her from the street and took her home with him. After getting cleaned up, a meal and water, her fun side instantly started showing and she started playing with his other dogs. She fit right in but he couldn't keep another dog at home. Maya ended up finding another home when she was around two a half months old and she was doing great there too.
A year later as we were setting up the new F+L Facility, Ineza received a call from the family that adopted her. Maya had given birth to 4 puppies and they couldn't keep her, nor her puppies, along with another mama dog, Zeddy & her puppies. Frustrated and disappointed, Ineza decided to take all of them to the F+L facility and take care of them. Unfortunately, Zeddy, some of her and Maya's puppies didn't make it due to lack of proper care and fragile age. A couple of the puppies got adopted but we decided to keep Maya, her puppy, Leila & Zeddy's puppy, Bobby.
Maya is a prime example of why it's important to spay and neuter your dogs. Her puppies could have ended up on the street just like her. This can easily be avoided if dog owners are willing to do what is necessary. It's important to understand that pets are a life time commitment. They are a lot of work and they are not disposable. These are living beings and deserve to be treated with care. Maya is more fortunate than most, she got a second chance & was taken again rather than being back on the street with her puppies.
Happy World Veterinary Day!
We would like to show our love and appreciation for all the hard work that the Vets + team puts into their profession. They have dedicated their time and energy into taking care of our furry family members. They play an important role in the health and well-being of our pets. Thank you to all the vets around the world!
Today is National Pet Day and we want to emphasize how much we love and appreciate the life lessons that we learn from our furry friends.
Pets play a big role in our lives and that of our children, in helping us learn about compassion, respect, love and care towards people & animals.
Our interaction with pets can also help us reduce stress and anxiety. They are our friends and companions so remember to treat them with care!
We are lucky to have them.
What have you learned from your pet?
