Weeks posts
A few weeks of some insane adventure racing, trail runs and speaking events. Starting with the @mountain_mammoth AR with Shale Biggs David Palmer and Andrea van Holt. Huge fun! Who's ever been to Ottosdal? I jumped at an opportunity to speak at a men's (mainly) breakfast during the Landbou Weekblads No-Till Conference. I don't often post about talks, but Ottosdal!! I just had to. Then it was straight into the Amatola Mountains for the Hobbit 42Km Trail Run. Chris Le Roux and I marked 28km of the course then swept it the following day. Definitely one of my favourite races. Well done to Graham, Sarah and team for pulling all the races off so magnificently.

We all know that conservation of the rhino species in South Africa is critical. It's been such a privilege to be able to showcase conservation in action up close to our visitors with @mark.colllins and his team! We managed to safely collar 2 white and 2 black rhinos with the Rabinovich family. What an incredible experience! #rhinoconservation #conservation #savetherhino

The South African series of Defender Trophy was not just about testing the competitors driving skills or physical fitness. It was about the unstoppable spirit of adventure, team work, ingenuity, resilience, character, leadership and purpose. The Defender Trophy events epitomise these values and more. Operating in wild and remote environments provides extraordinary opportunities for learning, growth, and discovery. #DefenderTrophy #resilience #EarthScoutsAfrica #AdventureWithPurpose #Leadership

Peter Van Kets brought the #ExplorerMindset to life at the University of the Free State 2026 Kickoff Event. Drawing on his expeditions across the frozen expanse of the South Pole to the unforgiving isolation of the Atlantic Ocean, he shared the lessons that define the Explorer Mindset. He reminded staff that no great expedition is achieved alone. The strongest teams are built on trust, vulnerability and the willingness to look after and inspire one another. The right +1s can be the difference between barely making it and truly succeeding. What a great way to set the tone for 2026. Social Alchemists hope that you all lead the year clarity, collaboration, courage, and bold thinking.
