Heading home after a couple of weeks testing ALR8 in beautiful Shetland. 🏴 Stitched together a little montage whilst waiting for the flight back. Always a great time with a great crew. ❤️
This summer we had the opportunity to send Boaty McBoatFace (AutoSub Long Range) from the shore of Iceland 🇮🇸 to the outer Hebrides in Scotland 🏴. It spent 55 days out at Sea and travelled over 2500km collecting scientific data. The deployment was for the research project BioCarbon that’s helping us understand how the ocean acts as a biological carbon pump. 🦐 🌱
Here’s a little snippet of sending Boaty off from the beautiful Vestmannaeyjar.
Wrapping up after a few weeks deploying ALR5 and 3 in the waters around Gran Canaria. Noval scientific sensors were tested and new data sets collected from AUVs deployed in challenging environments.
Looking forward to seeing the research and discoveries that result from this deployment. It’s been a huge team effort to get here. Feeling privaledged to be a part of this, working side by side with some fantastic human beings. Here’s a minute montage of some phone clips taken throughout the deployment.
