Seeing the recent NASA images of Earth from space honestly blew my mind.
It’s wild to think I’ve driven my personal vehicle the length of the Earth. What’s seen in this astronauts view—and even crazier to realize that a trip like that is possible with something as simple as a Winnebago Revel.
We live in an incredible world. The ability to explore so much of it, all from one vehicle, never stops amazing me.
I’ve jokingly called our Revel an “earthship” before… but looking at this perspective, it doesn’t feel like a joke anymore.

We have had more campfires this week than in the last 10 years. Traditional wood fires leave an impact on the environment, with fire rings, burnt earth, and ash piles as trash and mess in normally pristine places. We try to live by the Leave No Trace principle. BUT… We recently got a @lavaboxcampfires that uses propane for a steady, controllable flame and heat. No flying embers make it much safer to prevent wildfires. All in all, it’s been wonderful to have a nice fire without all the mess. It’s the perfect combination for camping in canyon country. @lavaboxcampfires #famagogo @holcombe.kathy@leavenotraceorg
30 days. 280 miles. Kayaking the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.
A winter trip that barely felt like winter. Most days ran 10–15° above average, with a few afternoons flirting with 80°.
Thirteen mostly new friends from all over the U.S. (9 women, 4 men). A No alcohol trip was so nice. Ten layover days packed with big hikes, quiet camps, and a full digital detox deep below the rim.
Pure gratitude. Paddling great rapids, nights in my tent, and long days moving through one of the most powerful places on Earth. And an absolute gift to hear Tom & Hazel’s stories from a lifetime spent in the canyon.
