All I can think about is what did he see as he passed over. And how frustrating it must have been for him to not sketch it. At least, that's what would be on my mind. I was literally walking out the front door on mon Oct 3rd at 4am to take my uber to LAX, which would have taken me to NY to meet up with everyone and Kim Jung Gi. Then Fly back together to LA for Lightbox. But instead I get the call that he's in the hospital as I open the front door. Then I cancel my ride and a couple short hours later I get the text he passes. The harshness of life. All to familiar. At that point I had to draw, cause I still could only imagine what a mind like his saw in those moments. I made a short video that I posted on YouTube and will post here, trying to verbalize these wonders burning through life and my current feelings on it. Still probably processing it and it's heaviness of thought for me and many countless others. I turned 44 on the 12th of this month of May. It was a quiet one, with a nice evening dinner with @amber_aki_huang . I feel like the 40's is a decade no one really celebrates too much. You're not young but not too old. But its interesting that im almost halfway through this decade. I still feel younger, haven't had a single gray hair lol and physically doing good, despite last years recovery. This post is the first sketches on turning the new age, and its been generally a good year so far. I still do sketches where im unsure if I'll be able to get close to what the idea was going straight in. A bit of fear of failing, but that attracts me more to try it. I can't believe I missed @jetli US tour. He was here in LA with multiple book signings and a film night for once upon a time in china literally the other day. Sigh~ hopefully he'll be able to do it again someday. Would have been amazing to meet him. His portrayal of Wong Fei Hung is one if my top favorite martial art series. The second film is in my top 5 martial arts movies as is his fight scene with @donnieyenofficial in the bamboo arena. Hope he stays in good health! The classes are in their second week, and my first wildlife class has already been really fun and the students are producing~ here were some demos today going into comparative anatomy from skeletal to muscle then applying it in reference observation. Some more drawings during my time in the UK. Me and @amber_aki_huang spent our honeymoon traveling staying mostly in London but got to see the Lake District as well. This was our first time there, and I really had a great time visiting this country. The weather was perfect and the food was awesome. So many great places and would like to go back to explore more one day. Also, watched a nice movie on the plane called, "H is for Hawk". #dynamicsketching #sketch #uk #travel

I've completed the grand feast themed accordion book. I started this one last year and the intention was to create a continuous image as it went from page to page. There was no planning and just going for it as per usual. For this one I will only draw on one side, where normally I fill up both front and back of accordions. Inspired by a sculpture in Hyde Park called the Boy and the Dolphin. It had great gesture posing~ many nice sculptures in the park. For those that have been asking about the pen I am using. It is made by @kyuseido , I decided to give it a go and invest in their pen when I saw it at the LA pen show. This is a titanium build with a triple stack welded gold nib. This pen is not for the everyday person I would say. However, for the pen enthusiast and artist who takes their materials seriously, there is nothing like this pen I've come across. I plan on doing a YouTube video going over the build and experience of using it. So I am putting it through the paces now. Traveling long distance and everyday use in pocket.
