I finished the edition of Long-tailed Tit prints today. They'll be dry and ready to start sending out on Monday. They're thirty quid plus p&p from my online shop (link in bio) and for each print sold, £15 will be donated to @readingrefugees as an act of resistance and solidarity with fellow human beings in these divisive times.
If you don't want to support refugees, I suggest you scroll-on as these are not for you.
Refugee Support Group provides advice and support services for refugees and asylum-seekers across Berkshire. We have supported their work through fundraising activities ever since our late daughter volunteered with then while she was ill with a brain tumour. She died in 2019 but we carry on her work to help people who have experienced unimaginable things and are just seeking a livable life.

This is my latest woodcut print. The Long-tailed Tit is offered as a fundraiser for @readingrefugees
Half of all proceeds will go to the charity as a gesture of resistance and solidarity with fellow human beings in these divisive times. Refugee Support Group is a Reading-based charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers across Berkshire. If you don't want to support refugees and asylum seekers, this print is not for you and I suggest you scroll-on.
The image is based on a photogaph by Berkshire birder and photographer David Massie. It is printed from a plywood block, hand-cut with a 1mm gouge. It's a limited edition print, on 300gsm Somerset Satin printmaking paper, 28x19cm, hand-made in my West Berkshire studio in an edition of 75 prints.
They are thirty quid, plus p&p on my online shop / (link in bio)
or if you're likely to see me, you can collect in person and save the postage.
Remember, there will only ever be 75 of these in existence (plus two or three artist's proofs) so when they're gone they're gone.

The repetitive chug, chug, chug, chib chib, chib of a Reed Warbler recorded during my warbler survey this morning. There's an explosive burst from a Cetti's Warbler a few seconds in: 'Whack! That's the way to do it, that's the way to do it!'

Picked up a couple of waders on my way back to the studio this afternoon. The Wood Sandpiper has been hanging around this farm pool for a couple of days so I was glad to catch up with it before it moves on. And swipe to see this Whimbrel I found on a local gravel pit. They're just passing through.
With the Common Sandpiper, Nightingale and Common Tern seen too I'm now on 151 species this year (78 within the boundary of my home parish).

🐝JOIN A GUIDED WALK TO FOBNEY MARSH 🐝
Part of #ReadingClimateFestival2026
Starting at Holy Brook Nook, this relaxed, friendly walk takes you to one of Reading’s most biodiverse, peaceful and underexplored wetland landscapes, home to an abundance of wildlife.
Along the way, @adrianvlawson will share stories about the cultural and ecological importance of Fobney Marsh, how the local community has taken on turning a neglected farmland into a thriving and more accessible wetland that helps to store carbon and manage flood risk, and why these habitats are essential for climate resilience in urban areas.
Follow the links in our bio to book, or point your camera at the QR code.
Repost @jamesaldridgeart New #QueerRiver post! Last week I walked with the lovely @peterdriverstudio along the Kennet & Avon Canal and River Dun, from Hungerford in Berkshire. Together we talked about walking and arts practice, birdwatching, wetland restoration, trespass and land ownership. The link is now in my bio.

So many connections with previous walks and work, and including @casartists@riverkennet@nickhayesillustration@the.merl@adrianvlawson@guy.shrubsole and more…

Thank you Peter, really hope we can follow up with a River Kennet walk near to your home patch soon.

I've just seen the 46th bird species observed from my studio window. It was a Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Swipe to see the Long-tailed Tit woodcut I'm working on which will feature in the next book and will be up for sale on my online shop in May.

Some more work by @peterdriverstudio - another Unprimed artist exhibiting at our next exhibition in May.
‘My diverse output includes exploring and documenting edgeplaces and long-distance walks, negotiating the material constraints of woodcut printing, and wrestling many variables into inconclusive paintings. Most of the work is rooted in loss and seeking common ground with the viewer.’
