A milestone for me; my first developed-at-home negative. But not my first overall; several years working in the darkroom at R.L. Bryan and Mac Kohn printers, both developing and touching up negatives before exposing plates. I spent a good amount of time in darkrooms back when they were a thing.

Grand Prismatic Pool, Yellowstone National Park.
Many of my outdoor-focused friends shy away from Yellowstone; too crowded, too commercial, etc. All of this can be true, especially at certain times of the year.
But it’s a place I feel everyone should explore and experience at least once. We go quite a lot, and now far off the beaten path where few visitors go, and fewer still after the first mile. I’ve said before, Yellowstone is best explored on foot.

Fortuna favors the bold.
And in a nighttime criterium, poorly lit and rain-soaked, sometimes boldness is safer; and faster.
In this particular race, it had rained nearly the entire time. The peloton was crash-wary and slow, a perfect time for those with ready legs to slip away. Only Kevin Mullevry took chase as Ty Magner made the move; two riders who could easily command the corners and slip away in the darkness of the backside course.
Yet, it eventually stopped raining, and the peloton sensed the urgency to pull them back, ending this effort.
But in bike racing, no one wins without being bold.
Night races hit differently. Staff starts breaking down backside fencing when the last rider passes, banners and everything else when they finish. It’s late; fans take off, and though you don’t want to dampen celebrations, you still have to do podiums, which means wrangling riders who are who knows where.
But the mood is always lighter, and really, more intimate, with the weight and waiting of a long day over, and game faces turned to smiles.

Appalachian haze over Looking Glass. I’ve climbed this a few times with @matterman336 , who after probably 35 years of guiding, could likely climb it blindfolded.
Day three of @tulsa_tough is the best for taking pictures of bike racing. There are a lot of great races in the US, but few with a spectacle like Crybaby Hill.

Shooting black and white film is a challenge; I find it much harder to “see” how the contrast will come out, and scenes are much different. It makes me appreciate the works of photographers like @anseladams even more. Though, darkroom work is always important, and in my case shooting medium format, the negative is scanned and my darkroom is Photoshop.
