It’s hard to resume a dream… but here goes. If I’d been asked to imagine the perfect place to sing THIS song, and the perfect person to sing it with, this would have likely been the answer (maybe joined by The Dubliners, Shane MacGowen & Jeff Magnum) Thank you @glenhansard for this lovely moment in my home town, with my family with your wonderful fans. For your kindness and words of advice. I’ll be returning soon Liverpool for another show hopefully with the full band next time if you want us? to music and to love #glenhansard #liverpool #peterdeaves #burymeunderthemersey 📽️: @luvcatband productions and my silly edit

🎥 Bury Me Under The Mersey (Ceol Agus Grá) Directed by Maud Chalard and Theo Gosselin >>Best viewed on YouTube for full screen - link in bio<< This music video is a metaphoric and poetic transcription of Peter Deaves’ song and the impossible friendship story of two soldiers during WW1. One is German, the other one Liverpudlian, and we will follow the last journey of Alf and Franz to their inevitable fate. Even through adversity, the song and video are a true celebration of life, love and the power of friendship The story is in part based on Peter’s family history. The video for ‘Bury Me Under The Mersey (Ceol Agus Grá)’ - which means “MUSIC & LOVE” in Irish - illustrates symbolically the lyrics of the song ….. NEW SONG - I’ve a new song out (from midnight). “Mother Knows Best” When I was 14 at my grandmothers funeral my very wise Uncle Tony said during his eulogy : “when we talk about a typical mother, we are talking about someone quite extraordinary.” These words always stuck with me along with learning, during the wake, how to make malteasers float above my mouth. A month ago, Tom Rosenthal, wrote to me and asked if I could write an end song for his podcast “Strangers on a Bench” - quite flattered I set about the task in my typical way: I’ll just wait till it hits me. I listened to the interview a few times and assumed the hitting was due any day now. The song was to be loosely inspired by the subject of the interview which, without giving too much away, is with a fella who drank something he shouldn’t have and was on the verge of death. His mother, flew him from North Africa to the UK and did everything to make sure he survived… About 10 days ago Tom asked how far along I was…to be honest … “not very”. And my mum and dad were coming in from Liverpool in a couple of hours. In a bit of stress I started hoovering and then something came to me - the mother was clearly the hero here. As they so often are. Over the next few days my own mum proved this correct on a few occasions. It’s not a universal law, but it’s quite close to one: “Mother Knows Best.” I decided to record it simply with Etienne in Paris with my littlest guitar and biggest huggiest voice. I hope you like it. Send it to your mum. The podcast interview too. And thank you to Tom, you’re a good egg 🥚 @tomrosenthal1 @strangersonabench @etiennedenanteuil @octopusprodparis 📸: @martincolombet

Thanks guys, again and again ! ✺ Credits - @josephinebinder

Sticks and stones may break my bones… Photos 1 & 3 by the unmatched @martincolombet in his atelier Photo 2 of my hand after being defeated by a mountain ⛰️ Not great for guitar playing…but I’m finding ways and will be back very shortly. Send me healing thoughts, nutritious recipes and alternative tunings. There are many songs to be sung and put to tape. Much love Peter x

My last night in Cork and @hank_wedel_cork asked myself and @davidjamesmurphymusic to play a couple of songs at the @charliesbarcork Hank and Ray’s Monday session which is now in its 32nd year. A wonderful night of stout, songs and friendship. A fella at the bar told me this was his favourite song in the world - it might well be mine - so this was an easy choice. Can’t wait to come back; Cork for life now. Will be passing through Dublin on my way back home if anyone knows of something going on.
