[ 📸: @chad_griffith ]. HYPERREALISM. When I look back at just how MUCH my music has evolved over the years, it’s staggering. The gear-shifts themselves are neck-breaking. I went from a kid who didn’t even know what a bassline was at 12 years old, to doing full string arrangements and creating walls of sound on my desktop. I’m constantly working to bring my (VERY disparate) influences and inspirations together to form something completely new. And that takes time. Lots of it.
Those of you who’ve been following the journey know that this one has been in the works since the pre-Archetype era — probably the longest gestation of any project I’ve ever had. (Yes, including THAT one TOO😅).
I’ve always incorporated singing into my hip hop work, (much to the chagrin of elitist backpackers 😅), and I’ve flirted with the prospect of doing a fully-sung project since @toriamos inspired my first piano songs at 18. I tested the waters with 2012’s The Projectionist, but failed to get the traction I needed to feel confident enough to proceed.
Since then, I’ve put in a TREMENDOUS amount of work (vocally, production-wise) to get to a point where I felt READY to make this album. Well, here I am. Ready to bring you ‘Hyperrealism”, my first fully-sung album project under this alias.

Here’s the latest video I produced & directed for @lucycampxo called “Intuition”. It was an absolute BEAST to edit (so many FX and layered clips - the timeline in premiere looked like ancient uniform), but I'm super happy with how it came out.
This song is taken from her NIGHTS project, which plays in the goth/darkwave/post-punk space, but paired with Lucy's intricate flow and delivery. It's been a lot of fun to tinker with these genres and I think we're doing something fresh and new here.
We shot this in a San Jose escape room that we booked, so we had our run of the entire place, which is entirely appropriate when doing a song about being trapped within your own indecision. If you're nice, I'll share tips on how to beat each of the rooms cause we had everything unlocked .
