I was honestly excited to work on this song with David, because I admire his melodic and rhythmic way of thinking. In the first session we nailed that chorus melody - and my heart was on fire - I loved it! But that’s the thing if you have amazing songwriters to work with. Also, that I could do my “radio” idea. Pete’s attitude throughout this album has been - “try it!” - and that’s what I’ve loved about making this song. So I could utilize my 4 language - bring life to my “radio idea” in the bridge - bringing some crazy to the song while it still maintained it’s identity. Pete never minded digging deeper into the details to bring out the inner dimension of the song. Or if he did mind, he was a champ about it!

Album production progress 🐞- random banter and unexpected sonic elements. Today been working on a song called “Walk with Me” which @ninassongs and I wrote in March.
It’s the most intimate track on the album. Still learning to embrace this side of myself where everything isn’t perfect - you can hear the mistakes and the magic shining through- though it’s a bit scary, I have to say! So in this song we are going to use the vocal recorded on that first day in when we wrote it. But hey - it’s coming together!!!!

This was day one of Lick the Sun — no clear plan, just a wild idea and some good people (Pete & Sarah 💛).
The song took twists I didn’t expect — reggaeton after the first chorus? Why not.
I kept thinking, “Is this too weird?”
Answer: probably. But I liked it.
A friend told me today who is k. her Camino: “If the mind is ready, the body will follow.”
So here’s to weird ideas, brave choices, and second-half-of-the-year magic.
