NYC’s FIRST EVER AFCON TOURNAMENT looked like this 🗽⚽️🏆
you really had to be there to witness the energy and how we brought the community together. 8 teams representing 8 nations 🇳🇬 🇬🇭 🇬🇲 🇸🇳 🇨🇮 🇬🇳 🇪🇬 🇸🇩 1 champion 🏆🌍🖤
everyone played like it was the real afcon 😂 from the intensity of the players, to the crossbar challenges to the penalty shootouts, to the sideline banter, to the victory celebrations, we got to experience what happens when the diaspora gets together around something we all love.
Ivory Coast took home the trophy but everybody won that night. the energy, the culture, the pure joy of seeing your people represent their flags in the heart of the city.

Afcon Finals with @nycmayor ! 🌍⚽️🏆
Nothing brings me more joy than seeing people come together like this. Football truly unites us, and it’s beautiful to see the mayor leading and serving the city in this way! 🗽🖤

Q1 felt like picking the ball back up, throwing a few shots up, and realizing I love the game just as much as the game loves me. A whole lot of putting one foot in front of the other, with the right people cheering and chipping in to keep the ball rolling, and somehow we’re back on offense just in time for Q2. 🫦🌍 #TheWorldIsYours
They been calling me Professor P all weekend, very fitting, though I’m not here for the lecturing, just here for the honest conversations about what it costs to build and what it takes to stay rooted.
Grateful to @nyuafricangrads for the invitation to speak on reclaiming ambition, building legacy, and what it actually means to stay connected to community whether you’re home or in the diaspora. 🌍

Doing is one thing. sharing the doings is another. 😅
We brought 200+ NYC students to the @nyse trading floor, we talking panels, gems from industry leaders, real access to rooms a lot of them never imagined stepping into.
Would’ve probably filed this under “yea it’s cool, on to the next, or let’s save it for your portfolio” if not for the brother who pulled up on me to say he knows me because his sister follows me. And honestly that was my reminder to share more—and maybe it’s yours too, because you never know who’s watching, who you’re inspiring.
Big shoutout to @financiallycleanShaun of @financiallyclean for always showing up, your continued trust in me to support this work, and to every person who made this possible. 🙏🏾

I started feeling what I share in this piece the strongest in 2024. Disconnected from it all for a full school year, then began writing in December after being away from the happenings. Picked it back up in January after witnessing the historic mayoral run. It’s now April, and as Christ the King resurrected, so shall I.
I kept putting it down because the thing kept shapeshifting on me, the way New York tends to do with everything. But there’s a summer approaching, and the way things are looking, this one might give the great ones a run for their money.
Whether or not this is the last time I entertain these ponderings, from my time in and away from this city, what I've come to believe is that what we need to take the conversations out the group chats and we need to say the quiet parts out loud. It's how we can have an honest assessment. A reckoning. A bigger conversation that hopefully leads somewhere— a KINGDOM.
Just published the longest, most honest thing I’ve probably written.
Comment READ and I’ll send it to you directly. 📝 #WiseWordsFromANaijaMan
He has risen and so has boy from Lasgidi. Christ is and forever will be King. Grateful for resurrection in every form—the ones that happen on days like today, and the ones that happen quietly when you keep holding onto something worth believing in. My God is both the promise giver and promise keeper. #HappyEaster #pjonroad
First time at Harvard got me imagining what we could build if we controlled spaces like this. The knowledge, the networks, the resources—all in service of African innovation and creativity. Still, I presume gathering all these brilliant could yield the same results I imagine, if the convening doesn’t all end at the conversation layer.
Had the opportunity to engage @elubanzadio_ Africa Lead @openai and the lovely + brilliant facilitator @ngasuma on all things creativity, the creator economy, and ways AI can equitably serve the continent and its diaspora. These are exactly the conversations I want to keep leading and participating in. c/o @africaharvard / @ahf_hsph
Shoutout to the @hbsabc for putting together a stellar conference and the brothers who made sure I was in the room. Catch me on the main stage next time.

P96 in 96 Seconds. 🌍🗽🖤
We’ll surely need more than 96 seconds to properly tell you the P96 story, but for now here’s a glimpse of what the last 9+ years have looked like—the people, the memories, the world we’ve been building together.
Too many people to thank, too many memories to share. More to say. More to show. More to do.
Share your favorite P96 memory in the comments for first dibs on what comes next. #project96 #setawon96
