For nearly 100 years, the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia has been providing essential medical care to the most remote corners of our state.
A lot has changed over the years, but what hasn’t, is the commitment made by the doctors, nurses, pilots and RFDS support crews who provide emergency aeromedical care every day.
This Flying Doctor Day, every dollar you donate on or before 14 May will be doubled thanks to the RFDS’ generous matched giving partners.

Perth’s favourite Mother’s Day tradition has returned for the weekend, bigger and brighter than ever.
Subi Blooms has once again transformed Subiaco’s town centre into a trail of large-scale botanical installations.
This year’s theme is Flora Aurora – an exploration of light, brilliance, refraction and glow.
For the first time, the festival extends into the evening, with select installations illuminated after dark!

As the weather turns colder, Bicton Baths might be one of our favourite places for winter swimming.
Bicton Baths have been in use for almost 100 years, and remain a popular spot for picnics and swimming in the swan river.
The boardwalk structure provides a clear boundary for lap swimming and is used by many swimmers all year round.

Here’s everything you need to know about Oakley Dam…
Located in Marrinup (near Pinjarra) just over an hour from Perth, Oakley Dam is a little hard to get to, thus increasing your chances of getting a bit of peace and quiet.
Follow the South West Highway before hanging left onto Alcoa Road and following it all the way to Marrinup. You can’t access the dam by car, you’ll have to jump out and walk after parking at the end of Scarp Road.
The dams construction makes it feel like an accidental infinity pool, although with a steep drop off on the opposite side you’ll obviously need to be careful.
When it comes to swimming in the dam - you’re allowed to but be very wary of leeches.
The amenities at Oakley Dam are reasonably limited, so it’s important to always leave no trace and take everything you bring with you, especially rubbish.
Nearby towns Pinjarra and Dwellingup are both close by, filled with excellent mountain biking and bushwalking trails, swimming holes, campgrounds and more.
