She works primarily with paint, sculpture, mixed media and installation art with vibrant colour at the heart of her practice. Her work is generally informed by her surroundings leading to abstract, often playful results which aim to evoke positive emotional responses. Printmaker, Sheila Roberts - she's back and who better for spring than an artist so skillfully depicting all that's going on around us in nature at this time of year! 🐦 Sheila who creates limited edition prints capturing nature and wildlife within 🦅 Sheila Roberts is a fine art printmaker based in Comrie, Perthshire. She works with zinc plates, soft wax, nitric acid and recycled or natural materials gathered from her surroundings. It’s a challenging yet exciting method of printmaking resulting in very rich detailed prints. Taking inspiration from her surroundings, she lets her imagination flow, guided by the materials to hand to create complex, dynamic prints She has twice been awarded a prize at the Teeside Print Prize exhibition and has had her work exhibited online at the 95th RSA Summer Exhibition and the Scottish Portrait Awards 2022. In 2023 her print ‘The Garden’ was exhibited at the 96th RSA Summer Show. Discovering wheel-thrown pottery during the Covid lockdowns sparked an immediate and lasting connection to ceramics. As a self-taught maker, they have developed an intuitive and exploratory approach to the material, allowing process and experimentation to guide their practice. Ceri’s work places strong emphasis on ergonomics and tactility, considering how the body interacts with an object. Their colourful, functional homeware ceramics are inspired by the shifting colours and movement of the seas surrounding Scotland.
