A small RIFI treasure for today’s spin: “Bīgonāham” (I’m Innocent) by Zia 💎 An absolute stunner intro! Both tracks on this B-side seems to have been composed by Hovik Arekelyan & Zia. First track on the B-side is “Beqorbūne Dokhtarhā”. I couldn’t find an exact release year but my guess would be late ‘60s/early 70s. گنجینه‌ای کوچک از لیبل ریفی برای امروز: «بیگناهم» با صدای ضیاء 💎 به‌نظر می‌رسد هر دو قطعهٔ این سمتِ صفحه توسط هویک آراکِلیان و ضیاء ساخته شده باشند. اولین ترکِ این سمت «بقربونِ دخترها» است. سال انتشار این صفحه را دقیق پیدا نکردم، اما حدسم این است که مربوط به اواخر دههٔ ۴۰ یا اوایل دههٔ ۵۰ شمسی باشد . . #zia #hovikarekelyan #iran #bigonaham

A charming relic of Iran’s late-60s beat era: “Shahr-e Mâ” (Our City/Town) released on the Persepolis label (5006) 💎 This song (and Khorshīd-e Asemān) were recorded for, and featured in, a televised/radio talent show called “Zanguleha” (The Bells). According to people who remember it, the program was designed for young musicians hoping to enter the world of Iranian pop. It seems the group appeared regularly in the show 🔔 Compared to the more electric beat bands playing Tehran’s nightlife, these tracks carry the broadcast energy of the era: Bright melodies, and that youthful optimism running through Iranian pop in the late ‘60s. Persepolis 5006 is one of the rarest surviving traces of the Zanguleha show. I’m still learning and piecing things together, so if anyone has memories, photos, or any detail about Farzin or the group, I’d be happy to hear from you. یادگاری زیبا و دلنشین از دوران بیتِ ایران در اواخر دهه‌ی چهل: «شهر ما» روی لیبل پرسپولیس (۵۰۰۶) این ترانه (و «خورشید آسمان») برای یک برنامهٔ تلویزیونی/رادیویی استعدادیابی با نام «زنگوله‌ها» ضبط شده و در همان برنامه پخش می‌شد. به گفتهٔ کسانی که آن دوران را به یاد دارند، این برنامه برای جوانانی بود که می‌خواستند وارد دنیای موسیقی پاپ ایرانی شوند. به نظر می‌رسد گروه در این برنامه حضوری ثابت داشته است. در مقایسه با گروه‌های بیتِ پرانرژی که در شب‌های تهران اجرا می‌کردند، این قطعه حال‌وهوای رسانه‌ای آن دوران را در خود دارد: ملودی‌های روشن و خوش‌بینی جوانانه‌ای که در پاپ ایرانِ اواخر دهه‌ی چهل موج می‌زد. . . . #zanguleha #zangooleha #shahrema
