A little personal update 🥰 There is something uniquely gratifying about having my design work recognized, and doubly so because it’s my own home (not to mention my photographs 😆) - @gardenandgun sees into the heart of what we created here and for that I’m grateful. // link to article in bio
We took this property from 10’ weeds covering a former cow pasture in a rural corner of the Appalachian mountains (swipe to see before photo + progress) and made it into a whimsical cottage intended to stand the test of time through the help of community, handshake contracts and creative thinking. This process has been a salve to the spirit in more ways than one.
Since we finished construction 18 months ago this home became a legacy for our children. During Hurricane Helene it was our safe haven (more to come on that later), and now it continues to be a hub of connection for so many friends in the midst of busy lives. There are few things I love more than getting to share it with those I love, so if you’ve found your way past this front door just know how much we value you.
Thank you to my incredible builder and now dear friend Chris Jarrett (and his amazing family!) Who listened to my ideas with patience, and led with integrity and kindness while also being the only contractor I interviewed who didn’t question why a woman was leading or paying for the project. 🙄😆 We are so grateful you all welcomed us into the family for holidays and beyond. 💕 You build strong homes and strong friendships. We’re forever grateful.
House based on a design by @historicalconcepts available at @ourtownplans , customized by @architecturaloverflow . While this home design has been my vision and obsession for so long, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also recognize the ever lovely @studiolaloc with @theexpert who helped me decide on styling options as I weighed final choices when my brain was mush.🪑Beautiful kitchen and library cabinetry by @digshomeandteresabbrown
Thank you @lindsey_a_liles at G&G who was the most enthusiastic and enjoyable interviewer 🥰
✨✨I am indelibly honored to be named as a best wedding photographer in America by @brides this year, for the third year in a row - what an incredible recognition!! Thank you @brides !
Sometimes, I imagine what it will be like looking back on this period in my life many decades from now when I am old and gray, when my eyes aren’t as clear, but my heart yearns for the camera. I imagine it all flipping through my memories like you see in this video - images of what I was invited into, all intangible keepsakes I hold in my heart of every single human that stepped in front of my lens. I am grateful to all of the clients who welcome me into their families if only for a weekend (and especially the ones who have welcomed me in for a lifetime), and to dear friends in the industry who recommend my work to their couples, and bring me alongside these inspiring days to be a witness to it all.
Please take some time to peek deeper into this reel by pausing it every so often to really see the magic in all the layers of humanity and beauty that are laced into these stories. Your legacies unfolding in front of my lens have been a spectacular show for me to watch over all of these years, and I’m just getting started. I cannot wait to see what next season holds 🙌
I took my family to see Liddy jump at the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show last year 🐎 and she and George came to our mountain home for their engagement session - so it was a perfect full circle moment to find myself at her family home this time, watching how her poise in a saddle translated to her poise in a wedding dress. Deeply grateful to be a part of this wedding and the insanely talented crew who made it happen @toast_events . More to come, but for now here’s a little peek into the design that made our jaws drop.
Instead of sharing something green today 🍀, my gift to you is @daraghfleming (sound on to hear his amazing poetry) - a favorite of ours. Since our daughter's name is Ireland, there's no better day to celebrate the crossover. 🇮🇪
A storybook cottage in the North Carolina mountains 🌳 Luxury wedding photographer Perry Vaile (@perryvaile ) welcomes us into her mountain home — a new build designed with such reverence for the past, it feels as though it has stood here for generations.

So far so good? 🤪 having all my friends yelling that "it will be okay!" through the elevator shaft really was not on my bingo card for the day, but here we are 😂 no better arms to run into @festoonsandflourishes@abbyjiu@laurenfair@shani.gailbreath
*Blinked and it was 2026* 😂 Can’t say I’ve had an off-season, but I CAN say that I’ve found time to breathe deep, focus on gratitude and make some updates - which is the kind of win I’m chasing these days. Check out the new website, cuz she’s fresh! 🥰
