The Siberian Squill is always the first flower to show up in my yard every year, and officially marks the onset of spring - my annual reminder of all that the season has to offer. This winter was one of tremendous pain and loss, both personally and globally, but also extraordinary accomplishment and beauty. I intend to find strength in both the pain and the beauty as the coming spring thaws everything out and we move into the annual cycle of growth and rebirth. Also check back in a few weeks when these little blue beauties, which are highly invasive, completely dominate my entire yard, I'm not entirely sure how that plays into my little metaphor...
