Perilymph

About four years ago, after coming back from tour, it became gradually clearer that the band as we knew it was not going to be the same for a while. Our favourite thing to do wasn’t really a thing anymore, and there was no other option than to retreat and concentrate on the only thing that was left: writing and playing music by ourselves, and for ourselves. It seemed it could go on for a while, and the best way to make this time worth the pain and confusion it brought with it quickly appeared to be exploring musical ideas in a way we hadn’t before. And so months after months, years after years, we worked on the craziest, most complex, prog themes-based, weirdest and most beautiful musical ideas we had ever had. I am so happy with this album, and it has helped me to navigate and make sense of so many strange notions in such a strange time. And I am even happier that today is the day we put it all out there for you to listen to, and witness how much we’ve grown, how much we’ve missed doing what we do, and how thrilled we are to be back. You can’t talk about Perilymph without talking about the really special people who are or have been Perilymph, in no particular order : Fabi , Timmy, Nick , Can , Nicky , Colin and Mitch. And of course the other people who joined us on this journey, @sonic.jue  for his work through the years helping us achieve the most beautiful sound waves, @pojpoj  for sending us to many new places, Laurent @sixtonnesdechairrecords for his trust and hard work since 2018, Stefan and Julien at @stonepixelsrecords  for their support and enthusiasm, Joe Carra at @crystal_mastering  for being the best at putting a cherry on top of our psychedelic cake, Leo for tying together our many ideas in a way that is actually possible to look at, Davor for literally reading our minds and coming up with the most perfect visual aid to get our point across. Also much love to @cvvision  who let us use some of his weird and inspiring tools, and Shahin who successfully came up with the most Perilymph thing in text form. What's up everyone. We came back from playing our first shows this year, and we had an amazing time. This run had it all, awesome shows, beautiful scenery, disco balls, 24/7 baguettes machines etc. Thanks so much to everyone who came to see us, and big love to @maidavaleband for letting us open the night on a few of those shows. ☀️ Samedi 01 Mars ☀️ Issues d'horizons divers, tant musicalement que géographiquement les Suédoises de @Maidavale pratiquent un rock psychédélique en constante mutation. Le groupe combine néo-psych & krautrock avec des influences allant du post-punk, au funkadelia et au blues nord-africain. Leur 1er album "Tales of the Wicked West" (2016), a été reçu à bras ouverts et les a lancées comme l’un des nouveaux groupes les plus prometteurs de la scène psychédélique, avec un patte très retro-rock. Le 2nd album, plus brut, influencé par les musiques Kraut et Post-punk, "Madness is too pure" (2018), confirme la place du groupe sur la scène psych-rock avec une approche plus audacieuse et expérimentale du genre, en les nominant pour le prix de la musique suédoise P3 Guld dans la catégorie rock aux côtés d'artistes comme Graveyard. Pour leur 3e album "Sun Dog", MaidaVale peint avec une palette de couleurs plus large, plus audacieuse et plus lumineuse, s’aventurant dans des teintes à la fois Touareg, mais aussi afro-beat, et quelques teintes funk, s'immergeant plus que jamais dans leur vision unique du néo-psychédélisme. Winter can be long and sad, and so we’ll be travelling south to try and escape it! Catch us on tour in one of these cities, playing songs from our latest album “Progressions Imaginaires”. We’ll have the privilege of supporting the awesome @maidavaleband on some of those shows, thanks so much for having us.
